Education Changes Families’ Lives!

Your gift can change a family’s life. Through your help, together we can prepare children for success in school, empower parents to be partners with schools in the education of their children, and strengthen the parents’ skills necessary for parenting, jobs, and community life.

Volunteers are very special to the Waltham Family School. They are invaluable members of our team. We greatly appreciate their time, dedication, and enthusiasm that they bring to the work they do.

They continue to build meaningful relationships with the children and adults in our programs, encouraging their educational goals. Past volunteers have included students from Bentley University and Brandeis University, and community members from Waltham and the surrounding area. Below are ways that volunteers support our programs.

Types of Volunteer Opportunities

Preschool Classroom Support
Adult Classroom Mentor

Preschool volunteers are part of the day-to-day classroom routine. They are hands-on with classroom activities, engaging the preschoolers in reading, play, and learning. Under the guidance of teachers and classroom leaders, they provide support where needed.

Adult mentors are fully engaged in daily classroom activities. These volunteers support adult learners in group conversations, assist them with projects, and work one-to-one with them to build conversation skills.
